Our history
Established in 2022 through the merger of the Orthotic and Prosthetic Education and Research Foundation (OPERF) and the Center for Orthotic and Prosthetic Learning and Outcomes/Evidence-Based Practice (COPL), the organization represents a unified national platform to expand resources to fuel the future of mobility care.
Our Focus
Since its founding, the organization has focused on investing in the students, residents, clinicians, educators, and researchers who make high-quality patient care possible. Through scholarships, research funding, professional development, and strategic partnerships, the Live in Motion Foundation works to strengthen the long-term future of the mobility care and improve outcomes for the people it serves.
Live in Motion Today
Today, the mission remains the same.
The new name reflects the broader human impact behind this work, helping people regain mobility, independence, confidence, and quality of life after injury, illness, limb loss, limb difference, or other mobility challenges.
It is an opportunity to more clearly communicate the importance of mobility care to patients, families, donors, partners, and the broader public, building greater awareness, stronger support, and more resources for the profession and the people it serves.
